Pearce and Courtland were once two of southeastern Arizona's busiest mining communities. Today, only scattered ruins remain—but every stone foundation and weathered building has a story to tell.
In this episode of Cactus Atlas, we explore what's left of these neighboring boomtowns, examining the surviving buildings and ruins to piece together what life was like more than a century ago. From the Courtland Jail and the Old Pearce Mercantile to forgotten foundations and crumbling structures whose original purpose has largely been lost to time, we'll uncover the history hidden in plain sight.
Rather than simply driving through, we take a closer look at the remains and ask the questions every ghost town visitor wonders: What stood here? Who built it? What happened?
