What’s it really like to drive one of the most famous model railways in the UK?

At the 2025 Great Electric Train Show, I volunteered for a full afternoon operating Making Tracks — Pete Waterman’s award-winning model railway. Rather than just filming the layout from the public side, this time I signed up for a four-hour shift as part of the operating team to experience the show from behind the scenes.

I also catch up with Pete Waterman to hear how he felt the weekend went — and to find out what he thought of my driving.
