Hannibal once ranked Pyrrhus of Epirus the second greatest general of antiquity. As a distant relative of Alexander the Great, Pyrrhus famously invaded Italy and waged war against the Roman Republic and Carthage. Despite winning almost all of his battles, he was unable to win the war.
