From the Americas to Europe and Asia, nationalist movements are on the rise. Few places illustrate this shift more clearly than the world's largest democracy, India. Last week, for the first time ever, Prime Minister Narendra Modi's party secured a landmark election victory in West Bengal -- a state long seen as one of the last bastions of opposition politics. This outcome further strengthens the BJP's grip on power. For supporters, it's a sign of Modi's enduring popularity. For critics, it's another step toward a centralized, Hindu-nationalist vision of India. Rahul Bhatia is an award-winning journalist and author of "The New India," an acclaimed account of the country's political transformation. He joins the show from Mumbai.
