In “What Is The Most Famous Hardflip Ever Done?!”, we asked the world’s best skateboarders who they think has the most well-known Hardflip of all time. Now, this isn’t about the longest, fastest, highest, lowest or hardest…it’s the most “famous.” So what’s your take? The Hardflip is believed to be invented by none other than skate legend, Daewon Song and originally named the “inside kickflip” by Daewon and Rodney Mullen. Although it is a very popular trick, only a handful of skaters have truly mastered it and made it look beautiful. When the Hardflip looks good, it looks great! Skaters like Luan Oliveira, Sean Malto, Ryan Decenzo, Chris Joslin and Enzo Cautela have all figured out the secret sauce. Upon interviewing 20 or so professionals, such as Andrew Reynolds, Antwuan Dixon, Bam Margera, Jamie Foy & more, we narrowed it down to a top two, Bryan Herman and Ryan Sheckler. Ryan Sheckler’s Hardflip at Thrasher Magazine “Bust or Bail” set a new standard at the time. It was spontaneous and it was huge, 16 stairs! It helped to solidify Ryan, who had been more known for his contest skating, as one of the gnarliest and most serious street skaters. Now on the other hand, Bryan Herman has a career catalog of stylish and insane Hardflips, mainly spanning across the Baker Skateboards videos and Emerica Shoes videos. For Bryan, there are just too many legendary Hardflips to narrow it down. But at the end of the day, the Paris 5 Block ‘Berci’ may be the biggest hard flip ever done and one of the most seen, which is why we decided that Hardflip is the “Most Famous Hardflip.” We took Jon Miner’s footage of Bryan Herman’s Paris Hardflip and recreated the sequence to display on the board that is now signed and available for purchase on our site!
