In “The Iconic Jason Lee Ollie That Defined An Era”, we sit down with Skateboarding Hall Of Famers, Jeremy Wray & Jason Lee to not only talk about a legendary image, but an unforgettable moment in time. Our host and artist, Jeremy, picks pro skater and famous actor, Jason Lee’s brain on what was going on at the time of this iconic capture. The two chat about the super small wheel era, the uncertainty of where his skateboarding career would go, the beginning of Stereo Skateboards, the launch of his acting career and what it was like shooting with photographer, Tobin Yelland. JLee unveils several untold stories about how he made the transition from being one of skateboarding’s most influential figures to a Hollywood actor, seemingly overnight. Throughout Jason Lee’s skateboarding career, he was widely known for his smooth style and classic trick selection. Rodney Mullen credits Jason for making the 360 Flip famous and taking it to new levels. Jason Lee is also the star in arguably the most famous skateboarding video of all time, Blind “Video Days”, alongside Guy Mariano and Mark Gonzales, created by Spike Jonze. After leaving Blind, Jason and Chris Pastras launched Stereo Skateboards, inspired not only by music and art but by characters like Gonzalez and Lance Mountain - and apparently Jeremy almost rode for them! We also discover that JLee was almost Uncle Rico in “Napoleon Dynamite” as well! Photographer, Tobin Yelland, describes what it was like shooting skating at that time, and how the go-with-the-flow, spur-of-the-moment tricks helped to define an era. Jason tells Jeremy an amazing story of how when he shot this iconic Ollie image, he was wearing the wrong sponsors shoes, only to find out the photo was going to be on the cover of Transworld Skateboarding Magazine! This short video is jam-packed with legendary, untold stories. After getting cast by legendary film castor, Don Phillips who is known for casting cult-following-movies such as “Dazed and Confused” and “Fast Times at Ridgemont High”, JLee’s acting career would take off. JLee starred in “MallRats, “Alvin And The Chipmunks”, and the series, “My Name Is Earl”. Although many know him for his roll as, “Coack Frank” in the “EA Skate” video game. Jason Lee will forever be known as one of the most stylish skaters in the history of skateboarding. Autographed decks and prints by both Jeremy Wray and Jason Lee are available now in our store.
