Which road has the longest perfectly straight segment in the world?
In this video, we compare Australia’s famous 90 Mile Straight, a reportedly 207-kilometre road across the Paraguayan Chaco, and the official record holder: Highway 10 in Saudi Arabia. We also look at a few impressive honourable mentions, including U.S. Route 412 in Oklahoma, North Dakota Highway 46, and Interstate 80 across Utah’s Bonneville Salt Flats.
Which of these roads would you most like to drive?

![Germany Is Not Better Than China
For decades, Germany’s hunger for energy reshaped entire regions. Lignite mining carved huge pits into the land, redirected rivers, and forced entire villages to disappear. Some of Europe’s most polluting power plants were built right next to these mines — and the result is a landscape that will never be the same again.
In this video, we take a closer look at how open-pit mining in North Rhine-Westphalia and eastern Germany transformed the map: from the massive excavators and power plants, to the relocation of communities like Immerath and the protests at Lützerath. And finally, we explore what happens when the digging stops — as these scarred regions are slowly turned into lakes, forests, and new landscapes during Germany’s coal phase-out.
