So, you think you know what money is? Think again. a.k.a. A Fictional Money Fable
Aaron Wissner is founder of Local Future, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. In late August of 2012, he created this video to explain, in the simplest possible terms, what money is, where it comes from, how it works, and how it can fail. This is the middle of a long study of Wissner's on the nature of money, starting from around 2007, to date.
Wissner is currently (as of May 2020) attempting to dig even deeper into the essense of money, gift, reciprocity, altruism, love, language, and how all of these are related to money. Wissner has written dozens and dozens of articles on money, created presentations, organized conferences around the topic, read up on it, since at least 2007, if not earlier.

Aaron Wayne Wissner is the founder of Local Future, a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt educational non-profit and a teacher of 25+ years. His mission is to help humans to have accurate, truthful, and relevant information so they can thrive, no matter what the future holds.
Wissner founded Local Future, a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt non-profit organization which helps communities envision positive, "sustainable" futures. As president, he organized and directed dozens of events including: organizing the series of five annual Local Future conference, culminating in The International Conference on Sustainability, Transition and Culture Change: Vision – Action – Leadership 2012. The Local Future (a.k.a. New Culture) education channel on YouTube features over 200 ad-free educational videos, with over one million views.
Wissner served as a teacher in public schools for twenty-five years, including teaching students from Kindergarten through twelfth grade, in subject areas including: mathematics, science, computers, video production, digital journalism, business applications, and student leadership. As well as assorted extracurricular and co-curricular activities, such as track & field coach, Odyssey of the Mind coordinator, robotics coordinator, chess club coach/coordinator, student council advisor, etc. Wissner also served as an educational leader and negotiator at the local, county, regional, state, and national level.
Wissner holds a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and a minor in Physical Science from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor; with additional course work from Michigan State University and Grand Valley State University; and a Michigan Teaching Certification for grades 6-12 all mathematics and all sciences. He lives in Michigan with his spouse and two children.
