A year has gone since my mom passed away. I remember what a horrible day that was. I miss her most now when I look through my parent's old photos (which is often, as I try to scan them in). Seeing them in the early 1980s, youthful and smiling, I enjoy that. It's nice to see them happy - even if they're no longer here. It pushes me to be with my kids more (as I sit in the basement working on music instead of hanging out, so, I guess I still need to work on this). But I guess it comes back to this - that I know when I die I won't want my kids to dwell on my death. I would want them to go enjoy their lives, and I know that's what my parents would want. They would want us to give our kids good lives the way they gave me a good life. So I try to honor that as often as I can.

As for this track - Well, I just wanted something to post so I made it up on the spot (and I think that's pretty obvious). It's very rough around the edges.

$Turning my Rhodes Piano into an ambient pad using a Fractal Audio FM3 I wanted to try something different. I put a filter in front of most other effects on the Fractal Audio FM3 (you use blocks and can place them in any order in your list of FX). I used an LP filter, with an input follower, so that as the sound comes in, theres a slow attack for the sound to come in and a slow release for the sound. In this way, I ended up making the Rhodes sound like a synthesizer pad. Maybe not something Id do all the time, but I did like how it came out. At the same time - I could play on top of it once the sound was in to give me two sort of sounds (1 pad and 1 electric piano). Let me know what you think. #rhodespiano #fractalaudiofm3$
