If super-advanced aliens created a mirror around a spinning black hole, incoming low-energy Photons would be repeatedly reflected by the mirrors and gained energy going around it. Leading to an exponential increase of energy that can be released. If the energy is not released, they would basically have a Black Hole Bomb.
