Is Your Brain a Computer?
criticalthinkeracademy.com/p/is-your-brain-a-computer

This is another free preview from a video course that is currently in development over at the Critical Thinker Academy.

The course is a critical thinking resource for anyone interested in current debates and concerns about artificial intelligence and the possibility of conscious, intelligent machines.

The course is organized around the question "is your brain a computer?", and develops the scientific and philosophical arguments for and against this view.

This lecture introduces some basic concepts in the philosophy of mind and language that are important for clear thinking about the nature of mental states: the type/token distinction; the relationship between sentences, propositions and meaning, and the nature of propositional attitudes (like "John believes that P").

Patron supporters get early access to all the videos as they come out.
