A hypothetical 'What If...?' question, using a bit of modern technology to try and answer it.
Sega Rally's probably one of, if not the, best looking games on the Sega Saturn - an incredible port of the Model 2 original game, squished down into a Sega Saturn CD ROM. but what if we could get it a smidg closer to the arcade original still by doubling it's frame rate from 30 to 60fps?
There's no game hacking going on here, I've simply edited a pre-existing Saturn Sega Rally video of mine, which I've run through a program called FrameGUI to increase the video frame rate to 60fps using frame interpolation technology.
This original footage was something I captured using Yabasanshiro emulator, which upscales and smooths out a lot of the Saturn's jaggies, but was causing a little bit of graphical glitching on the track closer to the horizon.
I think the interploated 60fps here looks great, it really makes a difference to how smoothly the game appears to be running.
