In a retelling set after Odin's conquest of the Nine Realms, Hela, his daughter, desires to expand their conquests, but Odin dismisses her ambitions. Instead of imprisonment, Odin strips Hela of her power, similar to what happened in *Thor: Ragnarok*, by enchanting her helmet and casting her out.
Hela's path crosses with Wenwu in China, but her attempts to retrieve her helmet fail. She ends up in Wenwu's custody, leading to a complex interaction where she attempts to outmaneuver him. A failed escape results in Hela meeting Dijiang, and together, they flee to Ta Lo, a village guarded against the Underworld threats.
Jiayi, a guardian, offers to train Hela, teaching her the ways of light. Through training, Hela discovers her desire for freedom rather than conquest. Meanwhile, Odin, unaware of her mortality, seeks the Ten Rings Wenwu possesses, leading to a showdown.
Hela returns to confront Odin alongside Wenwu. Odin tries to regain control but fails, and Hela's act of mercy allows her helmet to return, changing her armor to white. In a twist, she agrees to Odin's throne to undo his conquests and forms an alliance with Wenwu to liberate the oppressed across the cosmos.
The retelling alters Hela's character, showcasing her growth and empathy. The narrative diverges from Odin's desires for power, emphasizing Hela's newfound appreciation for life. The conclusion hints at a cosmic alliance formed by Hela and Wenwu, potentially impacting events like Thanos' rise.
