This June, ESA astronaut Luca Parmitano was named pilot of NASA's Artemis III mission, Ariane 6 set a new European launch record, Proba-3 returned to operations, ESA satellites detected early signs of El Niño, Euclid unveiled its most detailed view yet of the Milky Way's galactic centre, and Sophie Adenot reached the halfway point of her εpsilon mission aboard the International Space Station.

![Upgrading the ISS internet 🛜
Our astronaut Sophie Adenot shared this video on her social media channels with the caption:
[EN] Day 117, orbit 1811 — In this timelapse, I’m installing the Columbus Data Management infrastructure (CDMI), successor to the Multi-Purpose Communication Computer (MPCC) 😅. Think of it as replacing an aging internet box at home with a next-generation system: faster, more powerful, more reliable!
Columbus is an amazing laboratory, but to make the most of the science conducted onboard, researchers on the ground need to be able to monitor and send commands in real-time to their experiments, and of course to downlink data 📡.
CDMI aims at providing real-time communication and reliable downlink between ground teams and numerous payloads in Columbus, over LAN or Wi-Fi!
Science is what drives us during a mission, but behind every piece of data sent back to Earth, there are many systems quietly at work. Many thanks to all the engineers and technicians who make research run smoothly on board 🙏
[FR] Jour 117, orbite 1811 – Dans ce timelapse, je suis en train d’installer le CDMI (Columbus Data Management Infrastructure), qui vient remplacer le MPCC (Multi-Purpose Communication Computer) 😅. Concrètement, c’est comme remplacer sa box internet par un système de nouvelle génération : plus rapide, plus puissant, plus fiable !
Columbus est un fantastique laboratoire de recherche, mais pour tirer pleinement parti de la science réalisée à bord, les chercheurs doivent pouvoir surveiller leurs expériences et envoyer des commandes en temps réel depuis le sol – et bien sûr récupérer les données 📡.
Le CDMI a pour objectif d’assurer ces communications en temps réel, ainsi que la transmission fiable des données entre les équipes au sol et de nombreuses charges utiles dans Columbus, via le réseau local ou le Wi-Fi !
Notre mission est avant tout scientifique, mais pour chaque donnée transmise sur Terre, il y a de nombreux systèmes qui travaillent en coulisses. Un immense merci à tous les ingénieurs et techniciens qui permettent à la recherche de se dérouler sereinement à bord 🙏

![A beautiful robotic choreography above Earth 🌍
Our astronaut Sophie Adenot shared this video on her social media channels with the caption:
[EN] Day 113, orbit 1753 — I love robotic operations! 🦾 In this timelapse, controllers on the ground are repositioning Dextre, our robotic handyman currently installed at the end of the Canadarm2. They used Dextre to unload equipment from the unpressurised Dragon trunk. Such a beautiful choreography to watch with Earth in the background!
Dextre is designed for delicate tasks and is attached to one end of Canadarm2 (the same robotic arm that we use to capture visiting cargo vehicles). Dextre is very often used to place scientific experiments outside of the ISS.
Go science! Go robotics!

[FR] Jour 113, orbite 1753 – J’adore les opérations robotiques ! 🦾 Dans ce timelapse, les contrôleurs au sol repositionnent Dextre, notre robot-bricoleur actuellement installé à l’extrémité du Canadarm2. Ils l’ont utilisé pour décharger du matériel depuis la soute non-pressurisée du cargo Dragon. Un vrai ballet spatial, avec la Terre en toile de fond !
Dextre est conçu pour les opérations délicates; il est attaché à l’une des extrémités du Canadarm2 (le bras robotique qui sert notamment à capturer les véhicules cargos). Dextre est très souvent utilisé pour positionner des expériences scientifiques à l’extérieur de la Station.
Vive la science ! Vive la robotique !
