What do bunnies and chocolate eggs have to do with the execution and supposed resurrection of a 2000 year old Jewish mystic?
There are some who will say not a lot, that the bunnies and eggs are left over from pagan times and that like with Christmas, the Christians simply hijacked another pagan feast and took it for their own.
It is always amusing to listen to Christian Easter songs for kids, the are utterly messed up, on one hand they talk about Easter bunnies, presents and chocolate eggs and in the next breath they are talking about Jesus, the talk about the symbolism of the bunnies and the eggs and then the symbolism of the resurrection but they seem to miss the fact that it is virtually the same fertility rite they are describing.
Of course they are probably right but I have my own theory as to why the Easter bunny and Jesus go together.
Its quite logical when you think about it.
