went to feed the chickens and the chicken feeder was broken. I had a spare that is smaller so continued what I was doing and brought the broken one up to the house to fix. Many people would simply get on amazon or temu and buy a new one or drive to the nearest farm supply store like tractor supply or rural king because that is convenient for them.... the cost at tractor supply, rural king, amazon are all about the same for this 30# extra large size - between $27 - $35 but then I would be out of 2 hours driving time plus $25 in gas in my jeep to drive 1 hour each way to the nearest rural king or tractor supply and to wait on shipping it would take 2+ days on a new one, but since I already had a rivet gun and rivets, I will just fix it myself in less than 5 minutes of my time ..... saving me money. That is what being frugal and self sufficient means to me, being able to fix without any cost anything that breaks down so I don't have to invest more time or money into something.
