Biometrics are the measurement and analysis of someone’s physical and behavioral characteristics. These characteristics can be classified into two types:

Physical identifiers -- such as your fingerprints, faceID, any physiological traits, your voice and of course, your DNA.

Behavioral identifiers -- such as the way you type and navigate using a mouse for example, how you walk or even the way you interact online.

Because biometrics allow that a person can be identified by how they look or behave they can be used as a form of authentication that can be easy to use, although it’s not a foolproof method and should only be used together with other methods.
