US President Donald Trump declined to rule out using nuclear weapons against Iran, while calling a journalist’s question on the issue “stupid”.

Trump said there was “no reason” to use nuclear force and claimed Iran had already been “totally defeated militarily”, but his remarks stopped short of an unequivocal rejection.

His comments came after fresh US-Iran exchanges, with US forces striking Iranian missile launchers on Larak Island and Iran retaliating with missile attacks on US bases in Jordan.
