20 years later. I still hit record. Thanks, YouTube. ❤️

When I started YouTube in 2006…
- Videos were rated out of five stars, and you could browse by Highest Rated
- Video responses were a thing
- People thought I was wasting my time
- Videos were capped at 10 minutes
- 4:3 was the norm
- “Broadcast Yourself” was YouTube’s slogan
- We still called them video blogs. “Vlogging” hadn’t really stuck yet
- “YouTuber” wasn’t a career. It was barely even a word
- There was no Partner Program or creator ad revenue
- Google didn’t own YouTube yet
- YouTube was dismissed by the mainstream media as a place to watch dogs on skateboards and silly clips. Few people saw what it could become for entertainment, creativity and community.

So yeah, quite a few things have changed since 2006.

Including, apparently, my hair.
