The opening of any asset is always a special day. But when it’s the first of its kind, it’s even more special!
We were privileged to welcome project partners, hapū, Meridian staff, community and business leaders to the official opening of our Ruakākā Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) recently.
Since then, we’ve been gathering huge amounts of data and working closely with Transpower New Zealand to understand more about how the BESS can contribute to New Zealand’s electricity supply.
While this is New Zealand’s first large grid-scale battery, there are more on the way, and there’s huge potential for how they’ll shape the industry.
