The proof is in the pudding. We have done the research, we have seen the records, we have heard the elders, and we know who we are.
This message from Chief Steve is for the people who are tired of arguing, tired of explaining, tired of debating, and tired of giving energy to people who were never going to respect the truth anyway. We do not have to keep proving our identity to people who refuse to research, refuse to listen, and refuse to acknowledge what has been hidden in plain sight.
Black Americans are the American Indians. We have been here. We are still here. And we are not going anywhere.
This is not about begging for recognition. This is about self-recognition. This is about acknowledging one another, standing firm in our lineage, protecting our families, honoring our elders, and moving forward with confidence. We do not need to be misplaced, miscategorized, belittled, or erased anymore.
The time for arguing people down is over. The time for building, protecting, organizing, and keeping our energy amongst ourselves has begun.
We know who we are.
We know where we come from.
We cannot be moved from this land.
We do not need permission to exist.
We do not need their politics, their approval, or their validation.
We’ve been here.
We’re still here.
And we ain’t going nowhere.
