This weekend, I made another eastern steam trip! This time I made my way to the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad to see their newly restored 1309 steam locomotive. I gotta admit, it sure is a beast, and really does put on a show pulling 8-9 passenger cars up the climb to Frostburg. It was also wearing the New York Central 6 Chime while I was here.
Couldn't say this video is solely about her though, as I saw all of the diesels (Except 502 which hasn't ran for several years) in operation too. Their newest locomotive, NIWX 558, was assisting 1309's train from the rear, and 501 and 450 did a push-pull on the Pumpkin Patch. You'll also get to see the ride behind 1309 up to Frostburg from the perspective of Ocean View. Enjoy the video, and congrats to WMSR for getting this beast back into service!
