This past weekend, October 4th and 5th, was the first Pumpkin Trains weekend for the Riverside & Great Northern Railway! Two trains were running, pulled by Ex-Milwaukee Zoo's #1916 and #1924 . An interesting thing that was performed on the latter this year was that during the return journeys from Western Springs, 1924 would pull the train tender-first due to the new turntable at Hyde Park not being built yet. 1924's train also had a new coach not-yet restored that was dressed up with Halloween decorations to act as a "Haunted Coach", adding to the experience.
In addition to runby's of 1916 and 1924, diesel locomotive #940 would also assist in towing 1924's train back to Hyde Park, and there are also runby's of CPKC freight trains and Amtrak's Borealis throughout the video. Enjoy!
