On Memorial Day Weekend 2022, the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad operated their 2-6-6-2 Mallet number 1309 on four excursions to Frostburg, one each day from Friday to Monday. On Memorial Day, 1309 honored America's fallen soldiers in a fashionable way with US flags on the pilot and US flag bunting under the cab.
The locomotive slowly worked its way up the grade to Frostburg with a 6-car passenger train on a beautiful late May day. So sit back, relax, and enjoy Western Maryland 1309 represent America on its journey up to Frostburg.
