🌾 Can rice grow in the UK? We've planted some on rewetted peatland in England to find out.

We’re testing nine cold-hardy rice varieties in the Cambridgeshire Fens. This experiment is part of a wider project aiming to cut greenhouse gas emissions from degraded peat soils—while still supporting food production and farmers’ livelihoods.

We’re tracking everything: GHG emissions, carbon stocks, water use, crop yield, and biodiversity.
