Here I am again at home with the new promised edit - this time an audio edit of my favorite couple (... I guess?) because it really kinda reminded me of them. Sorry btw for being a bit late, I haven't been feeling all too well since we're home. (No need to worry tho) I thought a short audio edit would be a nice bridge until the next MEP parts I'm working on.
Soooo, what's going on? This time it's not Wendy and Mikey posing as young Misty and Walter but the other way around: The tragic story of Wendy and Mikey is canon here and I'm showing them as adults EXCEPT as you may guess from the de-saturated coloring: adult Mikey isn't actually there.
Their story still happened, Mikey died as a teenager from the powerline accident and adult Wendy reflects upon their time together and thinks about how they may still be a couple now if he had survived (though according to both the movie and the book, they were more "friends with benefits" lol). I'm not sure what exactly she's talking to though, his ghost? A memory? A vision of a future that never was? Hm, I didn't really have a ghost in mind and more how Wendy would imagine Mikey as an adult to make peace with fact that she lost her friend and (obviously) still feels the pain almost 3 decades later.
Btw, at the end in the flashback Wendy's hugging his brother Sandy, not him, (honestly to give both him and her some comfort) but in the present it transitions into her imagining Mikey holding her instead, wishing he could be there to hold her, comfort her over his own death. I'm not sure what exactly I wanted to show with her last expression lol, actually, I just ran out of clips with suitable expressions. Sooo Idk, I guess she's realizing that she must leave Mikey in the past while she can still honor her memories of him and love what they had together. Though honestly, you can also go with how it looks like: Wendy thinks she's actually starting to see ghosts and is going insane.
