Yes, GH1! First time I've ever charted for, and one of the few times I've ever modded this game. Internally, it's a mess and I hate it. Case in point, I can't find where the caption's set... (EDIT: setlist songs are forced to use "made famous by"! It's hardcoded! What fun!)
So a bit of backstory! If you've gone digging around in the lowest-level script files for GH1 (GH2 too), you might know that there's actually references to Dope Nose, of all songs, in dotdot/dotdot/system/run/config/sliptest.dta:
(m2
(audio (slipstream))
(beatmatcher (phrases
(finder (bar 2))
(capturer (bar 6))
(bar_round_ticks 80)))
(song
(name "test/m2test/M2_Weezer_mono")
(midi_file "test/m2test/dopenose_final.mid")
Dope Nose was, of course, in Harmonix's Amplitude, and was one of the first songs they used to test what would become GH1. Some of the earliest builds shipped to RedOctane had Dope Nose as a playable song. (Back in Black is another famous one, but that wasn't in Amplitude.)
Now, Dope Nose itself isn't in the files, neither chart nor audio. (Nor is it in the Deluge prototype, we've checked.) Some months back, I thought it'd be fun to take the reconstructed Amplitude stems (since they're in the files chopped up into samples) and chart them for GH1, basically recreating that chart! Or at least, something close to it.
So yeah, if the audio sounds a little funky in spots, that's why. Rocker suggested I use the GH:VH stems instead at some point, but where's the fun in that? (I was surprised at how different this chart turned out compared to the VH one, honestly. If I may be biased, I think mine looks more fun.)
The GH2 version of this chart is now available as part of marfGH: Volume 0. You can download that here: mariteaux.somnolescent.net/modding/guitar-hero/discs
GH1 version is still available unlisted at my site, should you really want that (I dunno, maybe!): mariteaux.somnolescent.net/modding/guitar-hero/charts/weezer_-_dope_nose_gh1.zip
