Engaged Couples looking for a wedding videographer are often overwhelmed by the different types of wedding videography companies out there . They are faced with words like Wedding Cinematic and Wedding Film but these are just marketing terms for what the Wedding Video company is trying to mimic in their work.
How to find a wedding videographer? What should you look for in a wedding videographer? What makes a wedding videographer different than the other?
WATCH THE FILMS in the portfolio. Watch 10 of them. Look for the cinema aesthetic but also look for consistency accross films.
The reason why wedding videos tend to look the same one after the other is because wedding video companies and wedding videographers are learning and get inspired by each other, which leads to the "wedding video" look people have become familiar with. Wide angles on gimbal, slow-motion in 90% of the shots, drone footage for 1 minute of a 5 minute video, and of course color grading that clips highlights and crushed blacks. This isn't wedding filmmaking or "cinematic"... this is Cine-trash.
