We’ve been travelling through northern Spain in our motorhome and this episode didn’t quite go to plan…
After arriving in Jaca and enjoying a rare bit of city life after the solitude of Canfranc, we set off with plans to head deeper into the Pyrenees. But between tight mountain roads, changing weather, and a looming snow forecast, we found ourselves turning back and rethinking our route.
We ended up staying in Sabiñánigo, discovering a surprisingly quiet aire with electric, friendly LPG at a local Repsol garage, and even a forgotten model village that’s sadly fallen into disrepair. Sometimes the unexpected stops tell the best stories.
With Christmas approaching, we slow things down — editing, gaming, decorating the van, and enjoying mince pies — while discussing bigger plans: heading south, chasing warmth, and possibly making our way towards Gibraltar and Portugal without rushing the journey.
Van life isn’t always about pushing on — sometimes it’s about knowing when to stop, turn back, and enjoy where you are.
