What a difference a day makes.
The storm passed and the skies cleared after hellish conditions stopped us yesterday.
We couldn't leave our original route incomplete though. So we rode 40km from our temporary hotel into the mountains to the exact location we stopped yesterday. Then we turned around and headed out to finish the stage, as planned.
It was still cold in the mountains but now dry. We sped towards Beijing, into Hualai and over Guanting Reservoir, welcomed by blue skies.
Passing by the Badaling section of the Great Wall and Juyongguan fortress we stopped for the obligatory pictures.
It felt very surreal to be riding on familiar roads again. We've come so far but we've got a little more to go.
Tomorrow we head for the coast and the end of the wall in Shanhaiguan!
