We Hold These Truths (WHTT) is a mobile interview station that honors and gathers stories about people’s connections to place, culture, and history, including the 250th anniversary of the United States. In 2026, the Smithsonian Folklife Festival will bring WHTT to sixteen "Of the People" festivals as well as three Spotlight Programs. Find us to record your short five- to ten-minute remarks in response to a series of questions!
WHTT will yield a collection of short interviews in which people in situ, on their own ground, share stories that express their connections to community and to the nation during this commemorative moment. All recordings will be preserved in the Ralph Rinzler Folklife Archives.
