On this episode of Adventures Into History, we begin a new journey across the backroads of west central Georgia, searching for the graves of Revolutionary War soldiers hidden away in rural churchyards.
I am joined by Mrs. Linda McCardle as we step into small country cemeteries in Harris County, Georgia. In these quiet church graveyards, we locate the final resting places of three men who lived through the American Revolution and helped shape the earliest years of this nation.
This is the beginning of a multi-episode series as we continue searching for more Revolutionary War graves across rural churchyards throughout the region. There are more stories waiting in these small cemeteries, and we are just getting started.
As always, this work is about preservation through documentation. Headstones erode. Records fade. Small churchyards become overgrown. But as long as we document these places and tell these stories, they are not forgotten.
