After magnitude-7.5 and magnitude-7.2 earthquakes brought dozens of buildings crashing down in La Guaira, Venezuela, neighbors and search teams raced to rescue survivors from the rubble.

In many parts of the country, heavy machinery is scarce, leaving volunteers to rely on whatever tools they could find to carve through concrete.
