As the traditional thatch roof begins to transform our off-grid cottage, we’re adding the small creative details that make our builds feel like home. On a trip into town we discover a treasure trove of handmade Zimbabwean tiles, each one completely unique, and we begin adding them to our staircase and balcony as colourful accents inspired by the stone house we renovated in Portugal.

Meanwhile, after weeks of work, the never-ending staircase is finally nearing completion, the thatchers continue their incredible work on the roof, and we race to finish restoring an old cupboard with a very unexpected design choice…

This tiny house is starting to feel really special.

And to top it all off, we’re preparing for some very special guests arriving from Portugal in the next episode.
