At the Pittsburgh Gaming Expo I grabbed a camera and started asking people a question that had nothing to do with video games.
Who or what inspires you?
Simple question. Turned out not to be simple at all.
Neo Ness talked about his mom — a savage who refused to let him win at anything. John Riggs talked about a father who played fiddle on street corners in Hawaii until his last days. John Hancock listed Mr. Rogers, Jalen Hurts, and Mother Teresa in the same breath and meant every word. And then Steven Haywood started talking about his kids and the whole thing stopped being a YouTube video for a minute.
I finished it standing in front of the art building at Bowling Green State University — where I went to school — talking about you. The viewers. Because that part is true.
No games in this one. Just people.

![GoldenEye Is Overrated — And Nostalgia Is Why (Sonic & Zelda Too)
GoldenEye 007 is remembered as the king of the Nintendo 64. But what if nostalgia has been lying to you about it — and about a lot of other games you swear were the best?
A deep dive into GoldenEye 007, Perfect Dark, The World Is Not Enough, Sonic the Hedgehog 1, 2 & 3, Ocarina of Time, Majoras Mask, and Donkey Kong 64 — and why nostalgia keeps making us crown the wrong winner.
If you survived Adventure Sucks, youre ready for round two. This time the case is bigger: GoldenEye vs. Perfect Dark vs. The World Is Not Enough. Sonic 1 vs. 2 and 3. Ocarina of Time vs. Majoras Mask. And the inexplicable cult following of Donkey Kong 64.
Nostalgia doesnt just make bad games look good. Sometimes it makes BETTER games invisible — buried under the shadow of whatever came first. Im pulling back the curtain on why we cling to our first loves even when something objectively superior came right behind them.
Plus — with Nintendos Ocarina of Time remake announcement still fresh, I dig into the internets reaction to it, and what it really says about nostalgia versus genuine love for a game.
This isnt about hating your childhood. Its about telling the difference between my favorite and the best. Those arent the same thing, and nostalgia wants you to believe they are.
Disagree with me? Good. Bring your best argument — I want to hear it. Just keep it respectful, and youll get the same in return.
