In 1979, WBZ-TV/Boston commemorated the United Nation's International Year of the Child by sponsoring a day of family-oriented events on Boston Common. Portions of these proceedings were telecast live by Channel 4. It was hosted by Robin Young and Marty Sender of "Evening Magazine" and Sarah Crutchfield, J. P. Wing and Jonathan Sahula of WBZ's children's show, "Get Off Your Block."
WBZ-TV continued to sponsor and televise Kidsfair on an annual basis into the mid-1980s.
