Here is my attempt at making something "realistic" ... except by the end of it I was so frustrated with not getting the shape or colors "just right" that I decided to give this succulent a more "artistic" touch. That's what happens when I try too hard -- the point of sharing this video is that you feel free to be yourself. Express yourself in your creations instead of trying to be like someone else.

There was a lot of "lifting" in this watercoloring....I used my thirsty brush to lift color off of areas that I had wanted to preserve highlights in, but because I was using so much water, I could barely control the flow.

I hope this shows you that I am far from being perfect in watercoloring...that trying new things is the only way to get past your fears, and that if you create with your heart, your hands will follow...and make something that is uniquely you.
