Hot Texas summers are tough on infrastructure, too. Extended periods of hot, dry weather are one of the times when water main breaks are more likely to occur. But weather is only part of the story. Water mains don't last forever. As pipes age, they become more vulnerable to breaks, which is why older parts of Plano tend to experience them more frequently.
