Pharrell Williams did not expect "Happy" to triumph in the Best Pop Solo Performance category at the 2015 GRAMMYs. He began his acceptance speech by acknowledging that he was prepared for another artist to win. "Y'all are really great artists," Williams said, giving praise to fellow nominees John Legend, Sia, Sam Smith, and Taylor Swift. However, that wasn't the only award he took home. Pharrell secured three GRAMMYs that night, also winning Best Music Video and Best Urban Contemporary Album, among his five total nominations.
