Spear and W.A.S.P. have similar targeting mechanics in Helldivers 2. However, the spear functions as dedicated heavy and spawner clear that is able to close bug holes and fabricators unidirectionally. The WASP is able to target medium and large enemies, as well as handle fabricators, but requires weak spot his to effectively destroy most heavies, but also deals excellent damage to nearby smaller enemies. The Bile Titan and factory strider are particularly ammo-intensive for the WASP, while the spear is able to handle these enemies in 1 to 2 shots. The WASP also does well in teamplay, as enemies will be more likely to be facing a different direction than the wielder, while the spear's rockets are able to handle heavies from any direction, making it better for solo play.
