“Was Jesus a Christian?” is an intentionally provocative take on the question of the underlying Jewish context in which Jesus was born and raised. How Israel relates to the Church, and ultimately how Christians relate to Jewish people, has been a topic of conversation in the church and the academy for millennia. How Jesus viewed himself in light of Jewish salvation-history becomes an important piece of the conversation. In our present context, ideas of Jesus’ “whiteness”, exposes racial dynamics and antisemitic attitudes that have permeated our theology and practice as Christians at times. Join us as Dr. Lori Baron helps illuminate the Jewish context of Jesus and its importance for the church today.
