She thought her boyfriend's dad was a murderer. She was almost right.

Catherine Morland grew up obsessed with Gothic horror novels — secret passages, evil villains, murdered wives. So when she visits her crush's family estate, Northanger Abbey, she convinces herself his cold, controlling father killed his wife. She sneaks around at night. Digs through old cabinets. Full detective mode.

Turns out — no murder. But here's the thing: the dad IS controlling and awful. He didn't kill anyone... he just emotionally destroyed his family in slower, more socially acceptable ways. Wrong crime. Right villain.
