Warning: Not to be confused with the American glam metal band Warrant! Warrant is the legendary German speed/heavy metal band, a pioneer of the genre in Europe, founded in 1983 in Düsseldorf. Known for cult classics like First Strike (1984) and The Enforcer (1985), the band returns after an 11-year hiatus with The Speed of Metal, their third studio album, released on October 10, 2025, via Massacre Records. This album marks a triumphant return to their thrashy, fast-paced roots of the '80s, but with a modern, sharp production, capturing the relentless essence of speed metal today.
Recorded and mixed by Martin Buchwalter at Gernhart Studios (Troisdorf), mastered by Michael Schwabe at Monoposto (Düsseldorf), and produced by vocalist and bassist Jörg Juraschek (with pre-production by Norman Jonas), The Speed of Metal is a punch in the gut for old-school metal fans. The cover, by renowned Hungarian artist Gyula Havancsak (responsible for iconic artwork for bands like Annihilator and Destruction), evokes the dark and fast-paced spirit of the genre. With 10 tracks, the album lasts around 40 minutes and balances thrash fury, cutting riffs, and melodic moments, without losing the fast-paced momentum that defines Warrant.
