I wasn’t planning to talk about this—not now, not ever—but something happened last week that pushed things too far. I’ve spent years pretending that night never happened, keeping my head down, signing the reports the way they wanted.
Someone told me not to mention what I saw. Not even in a joke. They said it wasn’t my job to question what goes on in the far corners of Yellowstone. At the time, I agreed. I didn’t want any part of any problems.
But, a few days ago, a rookie ranger came back from a night survey pale as chalk, asking questions he shouldn’t even know to ask.
So, I’m done keeping what I know to myself. I need to say it out loud once. Just once.
Because if what I saw out there is still moving around, everyone needs to hear this.
