0:00 - Ward Intro on Inspection Handcar
0:43 - Emma Nevada
1:45 - Chloe
3:02 - Model electric trains
4:06 - 119 and Jupiter
4:15 - Handcar and Outro
Here is an ode to one of the greatest Railroaders of the modern age: Ward Kimball. Perhaps the most eccentric animator of Walt's Nine Old Men, Ward undoubtedly was one who helped rekindle Walt's passion for trains in the late 1940s with the visit to the Chicago Railroad Fair. Within this compilation, we see a breadth of Ward's trains of all shapes and sizes. First is Ward aboard an inspection handcar he dubbed the "Irish Mail," then we see Emma Nevada in her early days at the Nevada Central Railroad, her shipment to Ward and then color footage of Emma steaming aboard the Grizzly Flats Railroad. From there we see the next engine of the GFRR, Chloe, traversing along the rails. Then we get but a small taste of the vast empire that was Ward's model train collection of clockwork, electric, live-steam and push-pull (even stamped/painted blocks) trains with makers such as Bing, Bassett-Lowke, Lionel, Marklin and others. Then we see a glimpse of the replica engines at Promontory Point of Central Pacific 60 Jupiter and Union Pacific 119 (though he did not own these engines, he helped to determine the proper color schemes/liveries for the engines). We then finish with Ward taking a handcar down the line of the GFRR. Hope you enjoy!
