The Wampler Cryptid Fuzz emerges from the sonic mist with a fresh circuit designed for both fuzz purists and skeptics. Brian Wampler crafted it for effortless usability, like the Velvet, expanded its range from smooth sustain to raw, vintage grit.
The Character knob change the bias of this circuit which uses PNP, NPN transistors and FETs. The 3-way Tight switch tailors the low end, spanning Muff-style heft, mid-focused Benders, and treble booster bite. Plus any setting can clean up and sparkle like the best of them.
The Cryptid’s post-clipping Tone section handles the broad strokes while the 3-way Chime adds some air around your notes by affecting the impedance in low/med gain settings.
