The newest run of Evans 50' Cushion Coil Car from Walthers Proto just arrived. I was eager to get it out of the box and take a close look!
Overall, it is a very nice car. For a Proto car, I would have expected a little more detail. It was lacking brake air hoses and brake plumbing underneath the car, and coupler cut levers. But the see-through walkways and separate handrails and grab irons were very nice.
The car rolled very freely, and the weight matched NMRA standards. However, the Protomax knuckle couplers were droopy, something that seems to be common on those.
