Railfan Walt Berko took these films of the New Haven Railroad in 1961. It starts out with a few scenes taken on Park Avenue in New York City, as NH commuter and long-haul trains run on New York Central tracks into and out of Grand Central Terminal. There's one train filmed at 125th Street, then the scene shifts to Stamford, Connecticut, where both long-haul and commuter trains, along with one freight, appear. Finally, there is a profusion of trains at Mt. Vernon, now known as Mt. Vernon East, to distinguish it from the station on the Harlem Division.
Equipment seen include two generations of MU's, including the then-new "washboard" cars; many appearances of NH FL-9's and EP-5's, and several shots of EP-3 boxcab electrics, just a few years before their retirement.
