At the border or Minnesota and North Dakota lies the Red River, whose headwaters start in Canada and work its way south.
I was in Grand Forks and had a few hours to see and do as much as possible, and this was an obvious choice. There is a LOT of walking paths for runners, walkers, bikers, and e-bikers.
It meanders slowly in south direction and is a nice walk in the evening or morning.
You will pass bridges, run-down buildings, and some interesting architecture along the way. And across from Grand Forks on the Minnesota side is a really good restaurant that I recommend, called "Blue Moose".
