Our study site is peat-swamp forest, which means it is flooded for much of the year. This makes it difficult for our researchers and Community Patrol Team to access the forest to collect data and carry out crucial conservation work.
To overcome these challenges, we have built over 6km of boardwalks through the forest. The boardwalks need regularly maintenance to keep them usable and safe for our field teams.
Recently, Orangutan Outreach (redapes.org/) provided funding to repair and maintain the boardwalks. A big thank you to Orangutan Outreach, as their support makes our research and conservation work possible.
